Hypoallergenic Doodles

If you'r buying a F1 Doodle and you want it to be low-shedding or hypoallergenic you need to understand "Furnishings"!

One of the main reason Doodle Dogs have gained such popularity is because some of them are hypoallergenic.  So if you or a member of your family are allergic to dogs, you may not be allergic to a Doodle: and that includes Cockapoos, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Bordoodles, or any other breed of dog that has been crossbred with poodles.  There are two Cockapoo puppies shown below.  They are sisters, but one is "furnished" and the other is not.  The unfurnished puppy will NOT be hypoallergenic.

A "Furnished" F1 Doodle

When this puppy grows up, it will likely have wavy or curly fur  that will continue to grow and will need to be cut/trimmed.  It will be low shedding and therefore somewhat hypoallergenic.  So if you have mild allergic reactions to dogs, you will be fine living with this dog.  This puppy's older brother is Ranger.  He was a furnished puppy just like this one.  Click here to see what Ranger looks like now.

An "Unfurnished" F1 Doodle

This puppy has an unfurnished snout.  See the straight/smooth/flat fur on its nose.  It will likely grow up to have relatively straight hair, maybe even wavy hair: but it's hair WILL SHED.  On the positive side, it's grooming needs will be less demanding.

Video of Furnished vs. Unfurnished Doodles

This is a video of seven (F1) Mini-Goldendoodle Puppies @ 4 weeks old.  It looks like you can start to get an idea of which puppies will grow up to be furnished, but they are still to young to really tell.  See if you can make out which ones will be furnished and which ones will be unfurnished.

Part 2 - Video of Furnished vs. Unfurnished

A video of seven (F1) Mini-Goldendoodle Puppies @ FIVE weeks old.  It looks like you can start to get an idea of which puppies will grow up to be furnished, or not?, but are they still to young to tell?  See if you can make out which ones will be furnished and which ones will be unfurnished.

What's the difference between a f1 doodle and a f1b doodle?

Here's a video that can help you gain a working knowledge of the difference, and the pros and cons of each.
